Flood, Thomas (no replies)

Jan. 27, 1881. Thomas Flood, trackman on LS & WS RR Co, was struck by Train #83 (J. W. Babcock conductor, George Hartlerode engineer), 1 and 1/2 mile east of Reno. Both legs broken, head injured, hurt internally, died about 15 hours after accident. Coroner's verdict: Death not due to negligence of engineer or parties in charge of train. /S/ A. W. Cox, coroner. "The section men left this handcar across the NY P & O track from the Lake Shore track, the engineer states that the injured man was across the NY P & O. track, apparently went to get something for their car and tried to return and was struck." /S/ J. W. Babcock, conductor. Report sent 2/1/81. Venango County.
