OIL CITY, Pa., Oct. 9. - Hixon, 75 years old, lives alone near the Shaw, and is postmaster of Cornplanter township, from which he realizes $100 a year. He is also a local preacher. He had just returned home with an order for $410, the amount due him, when three men entered his house. In response to their inquiries he said he had no money, but they refused to believe him. One of the men cut him over the head with a coal shovel, and the others applied burning brands to his feet, blistering them terribly. They then left, taking with them the order.
